Kwam is an MC from Central London who first became recognised for his ‘Who Am I’ series, comprising 5 6-track promotional releases between 2007 and 2008.
Following a deleted mixtape/album which was to be entitled ‘In Other Words’, Kwam then released a further promotional CD in 2009 entitled ‘You Need Me’, following it up early in 2010 with another named ‘Me Time’. Later that year he released his debut mixtape/album entitled ‘Truth Hurts’, which he then followed in the summer of 2011 with ‘The Surgery’ EP in collaboration with DJ Sketch’E. Both Truth Hurts and The Surgery EP are available from Kwam’s Bandcamp website.
Kwam has had some of his tracks played on Kiss FM (Best Kept Secret, Gifted, Money In Bags, Linen, Pedigree) and BBC 1Xtra (Best Kept Secret, New Face, Sense of Dread), as well as appearing on the Tim Westwood Show in 2007 and the Cameo UKG show in 2011, both times as a member of the grime collective Alien Muzik. Kwam also appeared live on Logan Sama’s show on Kiss FM in 2011 to promote the aforementioned ‘The Surgery’ EP. In 2009 Kwam beat hundreds of hopeful entrants to win Davinche’s ‘Rider Freestyle’ competition, earning himself 10 hours of studio time with the producer which produced 3 tracks, 2 of which (Permanent Graft and Me Time) were included on the also aforementioned ‘Me Time’ promo release.
