Deshane Cornwall (born 18th July 1982), better known by his stage name Frisco, is a British MC and Rapper working predominantly within the Grime genre. Based in North London, he is a member of Boy Better Know and is considered a founder of TMT (other members are Cel 22, Presto & Danny B). Frisco is also affiliated with Alwayz Recording, who are associated with Chipmunk.
Frisco first gained recognition for his appearance in the “Private Caller” video in 2005, alongside fellow North London Grime MC’s JME, Cookie, President T, Scorcher, Cel 22, Dimples, Danny B and Skepta, who also produced the song. Frisco again garnered attention when after mentioning Grime originator Wiley in a song; Wiley flew to Ayia Napa, Cyprus to ‘clash’ him. Frisco won, although Wiley came close, Frisco’s winning line is believed to have been “Roll Deep so deep ‘n’ ting but Roll Deep so cheap they don’t bling”.
Since then, Frisco released his first mixtape; (thus pioneering the practice of doing so in the Grime scene) Murda Music Volume 1, followed shortly by “Volume 2″. It is thought that from here on, Frisco took a one-year hiatus to spend time with his son, of whom he mentions in various recordings. However, he was not completely inactive during this time, still doing minor music work.
In his 2006 return, Frisco followed up his two previous mixtapes with “Back 2 Da Lab Volume 1″, which was very successful. In the same year Frisco also battled ‘Scorcher’ of the collective ‘The Movement’ and formerly of ‘Cold Blooded’ on JME’s ‘Mayhem’ beat due to so called Street Politics. In a song, Scorcher accused Frisco of abandoning Wretch 32 and mocking Skepta and Wiley before he joined Boy Better Know. Frisco denied this, and replied with a song, which detailed the story of Scorcher being mugged for his Motorbike keys. The feud has now ended with both MC’s, as part of their respective grime crews working together on the “Fuckin with the Team” remix.
