Tazzle

Taj ‘Tazzle’ Reid, born in 1988, is an up and coming musician from Birmingham. Having grown up in Aston, he went to Manor Park Primary School and then Harborne Hill Secondary. However, having family in Handsworth, Lozells, Winson Green, Small Heath, and all over the city, Taj wants to make it big as an artist and take Birmingham with him. “I’m a landmark in the city, no bull”.

From his days of listening to Old School Birmingham Grime, Taj sites his influences as acts from the scene he grew up around like Power Hill Crew, Bass Developers, Vadar etc. who inspired him to pick up a mic and start writing his own material. He also admits having a high level of respect and admiration for artists like Wiley andfont-size: Kano who have helped develop the UK grime scene and pushed it forward, as well as talented lyricists like Ghetto.

Taj’s first official mixtape release, Say No More, has been highly anticipated across the UK and is set to smash download figures after it’s release on 13/12/2010 (Say No More can be downloaded for free by clicking the SNM Download link on the top right of this page). “This mixtape is a snapshot of where I’m at in my career so far. I’m developing as an artist with every track that I put out and I’m now starting to explore other genres, while always staying true to my roots in Grime. That’s what Say No More is all about, Grime, Funky, Dubstep, Electro everything.”

Taj’s main goal in life is to make music and perform music for a living; being accepted as a versatile artist with the ability to excel on a variety of genres. “For me, it’s just all about making music, it’s what I feel I was born to do. It has never been about money for me. Having said that, I grew up in ends and have grafted and sacrificed to get this far, so it would be nice to see some of the mainstream paper that artists like Tinchy and Tinie Tempah are raking!”

“I also want to take this opportunity to shout out other Birmingham artists who are making their own movements to break through. Large up my brother Dapz on the Map, Trauma, Trilla, Sox, Jaykae, Hitman, Bomma, Romo, Lady Leshurr, C4, Swifta, Everso ent., Scarlet, DJ Apostle, Leon Lava, Predator and everybody else in brum who’s helping to push the scene forward.”

Taj’s first full studio album, Critically Acclaimed, is set for release in 2011, with one or two mixtapes on the way before it’s official release. As an artist he prides himself on his constant and relentless workrate and desire to keep putting out music for his fans, so expect to hear big things from Tazzle in 2011…
